In between stars - Interstellar

This movie was taken in 2014 and what made me wright about this, is the news in resent times about Christopher Nolan's new movie release in 2016. It is an interesting fact that a Hollywood movies are not quantitative. From the fact Nolan is one of the top directors in contemporary feature films and he plan for two years to complete the movie, shows the time taken to bring in a subject of plot and in depth analysis of the story.
Mind set of the Movie watching is also very important to appreciate that. Like any art form, Cinema is also a personal opinion.  I watched the Movie on a long and tiring  night after a drive from Chennai to Hyderabad. And I watched this in my relatives 3 D TV. The Movie narration is so complex you need to be watch it carefully to explain lot of unanswered questions in Nolan's thought.
There are so many science fictions which had blasted the box office, but this crossed some levels and made lot of people working in  field of aerospace, question it's complexity of plot.
Human mind has a tendency to remember some worst moments and best moments for long time. This I would say a scar in the mind. Like wise the movie has one particular scene about a father ( the lead cast)  taking a decision to go away from home for the excavation. The Movie finish in a fashion where he transcend the world and dropped in the book self of the same room where he desperately want to tell his own self from leaving the room.

To add to the beauty of the movie the title Interstellar ( neo term ), meaning in  between stars , suited it to the best. Life outside the earth, in space excavation, new imaginary planet, man's notion of experimenting with life in another planet, time lapse and relationship in between the characters are the points which moves the plot. The visuals are amazing and the imaginary set of new planet is absolutely mind blowing. The lead actor Matthew McConaughey, has already featured in my review of Dallas the buyers club, had done a wonderful job again. Matt Damon, one of my favorite from Pain and gain and so many movies, has done a negative role in the film and it is an absolute killer. And to know the plot took 4 years of study to take shape also proves that the quality of world standards can be. To imagine a movie like this, the production team need guts. 

Further the scientific accuracy of the Movie is greatly appreciated and the set of Mann world and satellite where replicated as much as possible. The concept of Black hole of Gravity and the time lapse due to the sling shots where eye opener to a ignorant viewer. The movie may not suit a entertaining genre but to fit to call a informative genre.

Destroying the evil at Papanasam

Drishyam is the Malayalam movie that director Jeethu Joseph, lived his dream. The movie went to box with big hit and within two years the movie has done in three languages other than Malyalam. I am mentioning all this because this story has drawn more attention than any other movie in resent years. There is an element of controversy about the story, that it had been picked from a Korean novel called the 'The Devotion of Suspect'. What ever said about this, the adoption of the story to the screen play and the pace the movie has been narrated is absolutely edge of the seat experience. 

Personally I took my family of two sons and my wife after a gap of 4years. Since my second son birth I had not taken them personally to movie. Even though this is not their first theater experience they showed mixed reaction to the movie. My younger son, could not stand the thrill in the screen and he termed in ghost movie. My elder son turned from the screen when the murder take place in the movie and later felt awkward when Kalabavan Mani ( the sub inspector character ) man handles the hero's family. My wife enjoyed the movie to the fullest as it has lot of life resemblance. I am not kidding the movie has a beautiful threaded family, realistic middle class life style and a go getting man, who does not hesitate to do any job. 

Getting back to the review of the movie, my personal favorite movie star Kamalhasan is the hero of the story. Well to have a man who lived most of his life in film set to think cinematic is like fish to water. Dam this man deserves all the price for his acting in all angles of Papanasam. To a caring father, loving husband, responsible citizen and cleaver common man , Kamal just handled it to perfection. Based on my elder sons reaction I want to know from Kamal ji how he would have felt watching horror or thrilling movies those days when he started acting at 4 years of age. Especially AV Meiappa chittiar had a personal screen to watch movies and Kamal ji had special permission to watch movies with him. In litter vain, this question has never been posted in any of his interviews. The movie has all the ingredient to thrill  and deals with contemprory  subject of hidden camera and mobile phone misuses. 

A special mention about Asha sharath, who did the IG of police character, did the job to perfection. MS Baskar , Kalabavan Mani and the girl acted as Hero's elder daughter are few other characters who made life in the screen. Gowthami, my dream girl (Yester Years) , who was a successful actor returned to the screen after long time , took the job at ease and perfection. After a long time Kamal movie had sucessful box office run and it also proves that the tamil film lovers have more become like malayalam viewers, where heroes are overshadowed by stories. 

This movie is a classic movie with fresh approach to the subject thriller. I recently watched a movie called 'Anbulla rajinikanth' where actor Meena acted as child artist and I was thinking how effectively the film has adopted flimy scenes to give the realistic touch to the movie. Incidentally the heroin of the Malayalam movie is Meena. The last scene where Suambulingam ( the lead roles name) walks out of the police station after his signature protocol is a new attempt and gave a satisfactory feeling that you had watched a wholesome movie. 

Life of Kaka Muttai

First of all I want to give an standing ovation to the debutante director M. Manikandan, for his wonderful and fresh effort he showed in the film. The movie is not a children's film or it fits in any genre. It is a genx movie which shows the potential of the young mind in Tamil film industry. It is obvious from the amount of recognition the movie got  from various international film functions. And another heart warming gesture is the Cameo played by Simbu in a movie produced by Danush. This two actors are contemporary and projected as industry rivals in Media. In fact this means there are hopes for the industry talents to rise and shine in all the department. 

The Movie has a beautiful songs and the back ground music is simply awesome. The Movie has a simple story line of the two slum children's fantasy on Pizza. The story develops on the path they want to attain that. The twist is and the interesting sequence followed by failure to attain a good pizza for them self. And the Movie ends in happy note. 

The story line is simple but the dimension of approach to show the slum dwellers is fresh and new. There is no scene to show a negative impact of slum except the two characters were not allowed in the Pizza shop because they are from slum and they look shabby. 

The title is derived from the pet name the lead characters derived from their friends. The thought of consuming egg for nutrition among the slum children is elusive and that is why they steel the eggs of Crow and consume. That is why they were called Kaka Muttai ( crow egg) 1 and 2 among their friends. 

The other characters revolved around them are significant only for the screen play and the director played a special care on not to get deviated from the centeric characters. And the Movie is run in a sort duration of time. Their job is to collect spilled coal in railway tracks and sell it for cash and that adds the income of the family which has got caught in a situation where the family head is in jail and the mother is trying her very best within her means to bring him out of Jail. 

Their Fantasy for Pizza starts when they notice a shop sprout in their vicinity. The dialogues are apt and if you understand the language then it has life to it. I doubt that can be passed on with the subtitles.  But the expressions are universal and I am sure people who do not understand Tamil can understand it easy.

Who is the Villain - Vuthaman

My gratitude and respect to Kamal ji, who inspired a whole generation of tamil film lovers, and a house hold name in whole India. When I  was naive and not innocent, talking about the days I started watching his movies, I use to think that Kamal and Ambiga are like real life pairs. This is not about the chemistry of the pair or anything in that terms, it is purely about my adolescents. Kamal was in his heights of commercial movies and I just know Kamal as an attractive actor  who acts movies with lot of attraction, do not get me wrong, what I meant was about his dance, fight sequence , delivery of dialogues and so on. Then  my whole perspective changed once I started following him and his filmography. That is the time when I learnt how Kamal was introduced as a child artist and evolved as a hero. I started watching  all his movies in Television, either in VCD or in Dourdarshan. It is him, who introduced me to Balachander , Barathiraja and Balumehendran, the three great directors who I admired. After I joined college and started watching world cinema, I got little vexed to learn that lot of great movies are based on the story thread of popular Hollywood. My admiration towards my favorite hero had also dented in those times. Now my love has come back to me and started loving him again with more vigor and curiosity.
To feed the time frame Vuthama villain has  timed it to perfection. My romance with Cancer has also grown along with that. Personally I lost my grandmother, my mother in law , my cousin and lately my dear friend. To be frank enough the Cancer romance was initiated by Kamal ji in the movie he acted ' Valve Mayam'. I would also proud to inform my dear friend, director Vikram Kumar's movie Manam - ANR lives on, has a similar thread to it and here Balachander was facing a similar kind in this movie. This can also be summed up as Balachander lives  on. This tribute to Balachander had lived up to all the expectation.
Two facts, in my thoughts which Kamal ji used it to instigate the imagination of his fans are, he and Balachander are real life tutor and student relationship and he married his real life (ex)wife Saritha when he learnt that she is pregnant. I do not know the reality but I understood that he was thriving in Hindi films then and returned to Tamil industry due to various hard reasons.
The story line is simple and straight forward, an established movie star want to do a movie with his Master once he learnt that his life span is not long. His performance is simply brilliant, even my two children of below 7 could enjoy the movie. The super thread about Vuthaman and his story about how he conquered a kingdom and won his love with the young princess is the movie in making with his master.
I need to make a special mention about the Kuthu style or flock style of saying story. This must be Kamal ji's dream and he executed it in his perfection. I do not know how much about Kamal ji's boisterous  and happy personal life but I am sure he had lost a normal citizen life as being a child labor ( oops too much, but in fact he is) and that is obvious when he makes lighter vein comments on the serious scenes of the movie. I know his preparation ground for more movies to come in cinema and his ambition of  hitting it big in world cinema is obvious.  As a ardent follower and well wisher, I want to pray to God to preserve him to make the great Tamil stories to reach the world audience.
To mention some of the other artist in the movie, I loved actor Basker as his personal assistance. He has some time shadowed Kamal ji in few scenes. Special mention about the Andrea Jeremiah as his personal physician and some thing........, she stole the show in the scene where she gets promise from three men to hide what is between her and the hero. Vurvasi, Jeyaram and Sageetham roa are just filling their place with right timing. Nazer is the hero of the flock lore storyline and he stole the show there. The young heroin won my admiration when she notice Kamal ji still at his chair without knowing his actual status deliver a dialogue " was he so bored by my performance" is the one to kill ( cheeky).The dialogue with his son after he announces that he has tumor is an excellent one. When his son tells him that he want to be a screen play writer and pronounce he wants to show what his father is capable of to Kodambakam is a special felling only a tamil movie lover will understand.
Vuthaman Villian ( is a Tamil word ) will last for long in the memory of aurdent Kamal fans as one for himself in lighter vien. A special applauce to Director Ramesh Aravind  ( a heart throb hero then in Tamil), for his special effort to bring Balachander at ease and made it special for Kamal ji. 

New expression of Music - Isai

From the ardent fan of S J Surya, I need to answer a question on why this movie did not claim any recognition. The Bold attempt of Surya to enter the Music direction could have been a forced one but he did a honest job. The Movie is a psycho fiction and the director finished it with a light vine touch.
Sathyaraj ji the most admiring man in cinema done a admiring job as the movie's villain. Specifically when Sathyaraj ( actor name not the character )  wants to get inquisitive of what inspired him to make music, he mention lot of world renowned composers like Mozarth and so on , and Surya's reply it is form honey bee. This is one sort of scene consequences by Surya's style of narration.
Worth watching the movie for the wholesome package.

Why Margarita with straw ?

What on earth had made the director Ms.Shonali Bose name this film ' Margarita with Straw"? It is a interesting scene when a 'Cerebral palsy' - differently able - person from India ( Indian brought up) goes to NY pub and finds herself ordering a cocktail drink, which she had come across some novel, she read.

This off stream ( not main stream) cinema is taking a new dimensions. These movies attract big crowd and appreciation. Ravathy in her hearts. No one could have replaced her for that role in a significant way in a brief bit of time she appears in the movie.  

I am not going to touch a thing about the plot. It is just a happening in a life of a girl called Laila. The erotic expressions where real, but that is the freedom of expression the film maker has made. I applaud the  effort handling sensues issues.

It's a through good movie. I remember watching the movie in the name of ' The road to Ledak', a similar gener movie.

Its Formula 1 enacted at its best - Bottom line don't Rush

This movie would be a treat to watch if you are a F1 fan, high drama , amazing covering of track and a special histroy of 1975 , 1976 race calender. The Movie unravels with a most devastating accident on track and gets back to 6 years, when the focused drivers Nicky and Hurt were just formula 3 racing rookies and both of them have high dream of making it into F1. Like any other business, F1 has all the basics and developments too. Even though it looks crazy and ceremonial, life of an formula 1 driver is like living on the Edge. There is always the high risk factor runs for a F1 driver than another profession on earth.
The screen play moves with two contrasting style of approach to the same field. Nicky, the more professional Austrian and Hurt the flamboyant Brit who loves fun, but both of them have the same goal of world championship in F1. This paves way to the fierce rivalry and the uncanny friendship grows between them. Eventually all are winners in life. The Movie insist the heroism, in give up for greater cause of family and life out of rase track which circles itself to succumb.
The film shoot of the movie might have been the hero of the movie. The camera is the one which amazed me the most. They enacted the crash with such profession and made it look real with great Technics.
Personnally, for me it is about the bonding between the the Ferrari car and Nicky, reminded me about my hero Schumacher and his bonding for the same brand.
A special mention about the Music. It is a moving score which was a big impact for the Movie.
A feel good action movie and it is different for a biopic.
